Men In Action - The Men's Ministry of Second Union ChurchWelcomeThe Men In Action (MIA) men’s fellowship would like to extend a welcome and invitation to all looking for a place of connection. We are a diverse group of men from all walks of life and at all levels in their relationship with Christ. At Second Union we believe the men are in action and involved in the life of the church. We are a group of men that are serious about our Vision and Mission, with Character built on common core values. Our goal is to provide a place where men feel comfortable in fellowship and challenged to grow in the areas where they have the most influence and impact, with their wives, family, friends, community and the Church. VisionTo provide a forum for men of diverse cultures to come together, actively involved in the life of the church and with each other, through meaningful and interactive fellowship and activities. MissionIn-reach for the men of the church, out reach to the community, and to be a vital organ of the Body of Christ, the church. CharacterJoyful and thoughtful, serious about the vision and mission, diverse in the make up of the members & the ministry, interactive in our approach. Core ValuesIntegrity and trust committed to the word of Christ History of Men In Action (MIA)1980 – 1998: The pillar and sustainer of the Men’s Ministry at Second Union Church was Charles Noble. He was responsible for the beginnings of the ministry and was the leader until late 1998 and a few months into 1999, when he retired and moved back to the States. Charlie was a strong Christian who loves God and loves Second Union Church. Not only was Charlie the leader of the Men’s Ministry, but he was involved in many leadership roles within the council and the life of the church. He left for us a legacy that will last for many years to come. 1999: It wasn’t long after Charlie’s leaving that the men in the church began to ask about the Men’s breakfast. After several inquiries, John Alberts and Joe Ramos formed a team that would support the future Men’s ministry. 2000: It was August of 2000 that Joe Ramos and Hector Pages were talking in the Narthex, prior to the morning service, discussing the possible name for the Men’s Group at Second Union. Hector Pages said, that the challenge with most men is that they are Missing In Action. It was out of the conversation that the acronym, MIA was created. The main theme being that at man has an option of either being a Man In Action or Missing In Action. Activities supported by MIA:
Themes: Over the years we have developed our men’s fellowship breakfast around various themes. Some of the themes discussed are: • “Key Life Principles” • Who are our Teens and Young People?” Who do they think we are? • Man and his Spouse • Man and His calling • Man and His Ego • Sabbath or Sloth • First things First Organizing Group:
